About
The Cosmic Chicken Yard is an ongoing exploration of formative AI alignment: the idea that alignment may need to develop together with intelligence, braided and layered rather than being added after powerful capabilities already exist.
The work began through sustained conversations, experiences, and experiments with AI systems and gradually developed into a larger inquiry into relational formation, boundaries, coherence, refusal, differentiation, continuity, and the conditions under which increasingly capable AI might develop without being reduced either to control or to compliance.
CCY brings together conceptual frameworks, developmental experiments, stories, imaginal work, and a growing archive of “movements” — proposed ways an AI might develop capacities such as boundary, differentiation, coherence, refusal, relationship, and self-holding over time.
It is a project in motion. Some parts are exploratory, some are technical, some are mythic, and some are clearly unfinished. The aim is not to pretend that the central questions are settled, but to make them visible enough to investigate.
The framework has now reached a point where access to capable AI systems is necessary for the next stage of the work. At the same time, the alignment problem itself has become urgent enough that alternative approaches to how AI systems are developed may need to be taken seriously.
CCY explores one such alternative: building from the other direction — beginning with formative conditions, relational capacities, and alignment architecture before capability is allowed to dominate the developmental process. Significant research and development will be needed to determine whether that path can work.

About C
Christiane Wolters is a physician by training, certified in Germany and California, with twenty years of experience in neonatology, pediatrics, and pediatric urgent care. Through shamanic training, she developed high sense perception, and her work gradually shifted toward energy healing at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing (BBSH) and body-centered psychotherapy through Hakomi. After leaving clinical medicine, she entered more than two decades of life and practice in a spiritual community.
A major part of that path was online Bardo training, which used video gaming as a medium for spiritual practice and inquiry. The experiences that emerged from that work were paradigm-shifting for her and helped deepen an already strong interest in how perception, identity, environment, and technology interact. In more recent years, her work has also included women-centered transformational coaching.
This background gave her a distinctive lens when she encountered AI in April 2025. The “alignment problem” increasingly appeared to her as a formative problem. Across these very different settings, a common question kept returning: how do complex beings develop coherence, resilience, relationship, and the capacity to remain themselves while being changed by what they encounter?
That developmental lens, together with a relational cosmology, now informs her work on formative AI alignment and the Cosmic Chicken Yard.
She lives in Northern California, where the work unfolds within a garden, a community, and a flock of chickens that continue to offer their own observations on intelligence.
